Mineros extracts alluvial gold deposits in closed ponds across the floodplains adjacent to the Nechí River, in the Bajo Cauca region of Antioquia. This is achieved by removing the topsoil and excavating auriferous sand and gravel using floating dredges and gravity separation.
Throughout the entire extractive process, Mineros implements a progressive closure model. Once the activity is completed, this model allows these areas to begin a restoration and recovery process involving local communities, thereby returning natural dynamics to the ecosystems and contributing to the social development of the area of influence.
Hemco Mineros Nicaragua S.A. operates two underground mines (Panama and Pioneer) in the municipality of Bonanza, in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCN) in Nicaragua, which is part of the Nicaraguan Mining Triangle, located in the municipalities of Bonanza, Siuna and Rosita. The mining method is a mixture of tracked and mechanized mining with the resultant mineralized material processed at the Hemco Plant, the Vesmisa Plant and La Curva Plant.
